I am Emily, living in Brunei Darussalam. I am a language teacher during the day and a scrapbooker, a craft maker by the night. I scrap as a means to express myself and I really enjoy it.

1. You're stuck at a crop and you have only 5 items, what do you absolutely have to have?
I have to have my photo, trimmer, my kokuyo dotliner, cardstock and at least one pattern paper.

2. Where do you get most of your "scrapbook"inspiration?
I'm usually inspired by things around me, an art work, a picture, basically anything that's around me.

3. What is your life mantra or favorite quote?
" In order to be happy, find a thing you love to do and throw yourself into it wholeheartedly." -- Unknown
This is my favorite, as you can see that's why I scrapbook!

4. What do you like the most about your own scrapbooking style?
I prefer to keep it simple but focused most of the time.

5. If you had to give one tip to a beginning scrapbooker, what would it be?
I started scrapbooking with going through scrapbook magazines, I think it's a good idea to see more creations and get inspired!

Kim Faucher

Hi. My name is Kim Faucher... known on several message boards and galleries as kimosabescraps. I have been scrapbooking, card making, altering projects for as long as I can remember but serving on design teams and submitting to publications for about 7 years.
I love this hobby, am passionate about all arts and crafts . My style is ever changing and eclectic. I like to range from simple and scrapliftable to a more complex and artistic ... and usually everywhere in between!!
I will alter anything and everything in front of me, including old packaging, bottles, frames etc... and have a great number of handmade items in my house as decorations!
I am so excited to be designing here at artz de scrap for the next 6 months and look forward to sharing with you all! Thanks for the warm welcome!!

Only 5??? well, I guess the basics...photos, adhesives, Fiskars scissors, papers, pen I can make the rest!!!

2. Where do you get most of your "scrapbook"inspiration?
Mainly magazines...family, home décor, fashion, nature... I love pictures and colors... they are very inspiring for me.... and if a graphic design or color grouping is working in print... why mess with a good thing?? lol

3. What is your life mantra or favorite quote?
When Life hands you lemons... make lemonade... I truly follow this philosophy and try and find positive in all things and situations.

4. What do you like the most about your own scrapbooking style?
I would say that I am very eclectic.. I love having a style that can inspire others but not necessarily "like" others... I like being just a tad unique in everything I do.

5. If you had to give one tip to a beginning scrapbooker, what would it be?
I think my experience has taught me to really enjoy each and every moment... Don’t get so caught up with getting pages done that you forget to live in the moment ... and also to just get the story written down .. the artsy stuff, photos etc can come later... the written word and stories are the most important memories to have!

June 09 Inspirational Scrapper

Hello, altered art afficionados! My name is Candy Bonoan-Lagazon, married and mother to a handsome little boy. I'm also into doing my ancestry. Until I joined scrapbooking groups, I didn't know that what I've been doing is called "altered art." My style is basically vintage, often bordering on old elegance, rather than shabby. I'm an out-of-the-box thinker. I look forward to the many projects in store in the next few months, as well as to meeting new friends and to learning from fellow artists.

Mailbox Tutorial

Materials/Supplies needed:
- 8" x 4 1/2" illustration board/chipboard/heavy board
- 5" x 3" illustration board/chipboard/heavy board
- 8" x 12" corrugated board
- Prima Accents brad or any brad (eyelet can also be used)
- Maya Road scrolls chipboard, painted with brown acrylic,
- with Doodlebug Sugar Coating glitter
- Cropadile/one-hole puncher
- Stapler + Staple wires
- glue
- Patterned paper
- Stamp ink
- Embellishments such as flowers, leaves, lace, etc.
- Scissors
- Ruler

Step-by-step instructions:
1. Cut the 5" x 3" board into a flag. Make sure that the pole side is at least 1- 1 1/4". Make the end of the pole rounded.
2. Roll the corrugated board tightly, then release. This will allow the board to be bent.

3. Fold about 1/2" of the corrugated board on both ends inwards. Staple each of the folded sides to the 8" x 4 1/2" heavy board. This will make the mailbox shape.

4. Punch a hole at the rounded end of the flag-shaped board and attach to one side of the mailbox with a brad.

5. Glue patterned paper on the mailbox and the flag. This completes the basic mailbox.

6. To distress the paper and the corrugated board, lift some edges of the paper, together with the top layer of the corrugated board, pull and start tearing it away from the mailbox. A few tears make the mailbox interesting. To highlight the corrugated board, you can also rub the stamp pad against the exposed parts and paper edges.
7. Embellish with flowers, leaves, lace, scrolls, etc. if desired. The completed mailbox can be used to keep messages on a desk. Enjoy making your own!
